Hi I'm Barry, I can provide manual driving lessons in Maidstone and surrounding areas licensed by the DVSA to give driving instruction and I am passionate about road safety.
I learnt to drive in the army at the age of 17, where I was taught to drive a 4 ton HGV truck as my first vehicle. I spent 11 years in the army as a Royal Engineer Driver Specialist and I gained all my driving licences from motorcycle through to my C+E class 1 and Cat D licence.
After leaving the army I became a police officer where I spent 24 years covering many different roles. These included Detective in CID, Child and Adult Protection and 5 years as a Lead Investigating Officer on the Serious Collision Investigation Unit investigating serious and fatal collisions. During my time in this unit I passed my Police Advanced driver qualification where my driving skills were scrutinised to a very high standard.
After leaving the police, I decided to train to become a driving instructor because I wanted a job, not only with satisfaction but where I can positively influence new drivers to become safe drivers for life. There is nothing better than seeing someone pass their test first time utilising the skills I have taught them. I am a calm and relaxed type of person, especially in challenging situations, which was something I have shown through both my military and police careers, and continue as a driving instructor.
I am fortunate to be training with LDC using the latest adult coaching and training techniques so you can be assured the training I give will be of the highest standard.
I chose to work with LDC because everybody is different and the LD System allows for flexibility in lessons so that you learn to drive safely at a rate that suits you. I aim to make every lesson enjoyable and as productive as possible. The LD System just helps me to do this more effectively.
Lessons are always conducted in a calm, friendly and relaxed manner as I firmly believe in making pupils feel at ease during lessons.
Well I hope this gives you a brief idea about me so please feel free to click here to "Contact me"
